Project: Loft conversion storage space
Client: Mr. & Mrs. Bennett
D02
Overview
Our clients wanted more space for storage in their property; they asked Woodfellas would this be possible? It is possible to covert any roof for storage space without having a full blown loft conversion, you don't even require planning and building regulations.
Mr. and Mrs. Bennett's property is typical of most homes built before the 1960's. Originally the traditional small loft hole trap in the ceiling was formed, insulation was added to the ceiling floor over the years, the Christmas tree and children's toys eventually ended up there with any old household memorabilia not really utilizing the space.
The Solution For this conversion the loft was cleaned and a new ceiling loft ladder was fitted instead of the small trap for improved access. After installing a new floor covering the loft was ready to be insulated with the new Tri-iso thermal roof covering. Tri-iso covering has tremendous U-valves and will make great savings on next winter's bills. After insulating the inside of the roof it was plaster boarded and skimmed. The roof beams were coated in a dark wood preservative and stained in colour to keep its originality. A new carpet covering was laid and it it looked fantastic! So our clients testify.
